Sand Hills Lighthouse
"Twenty years later, the Coast Guard took control of the light. Shortly thereafter, the light was automated with the installation of acetylene fuel and a sun valve system. William and Mary Bennets were the first keepers assigned to the light. The lighthouse was deactivated in 1954."
Today, the lighthouse functions as a expansively renovated Bed and Breakfast Inn operated by the gracious William and Mary Frabotta. The lighthouse and grounds can be toured with an advance reservation. You may also visit this historic lighthouse as a guest and return to yesteryear complete with comfortably appointed rooms and homemade foods accompanied by a grand piano. Visit the Sand Hills Lighthouse Inn website for more information.
